St Michael's Church. The church is one of Liverpool's cast iron churches, and is at the centre of St Michael's Hamlet, an early ninteenth century village purpose built by John Cragg. Cragg a local iron founder teamed up with the architect Thomas Rickman to build cast iron churches and housing. Cast iron was used wherever possible in the construction the Hamlet. The 'cast iron shore', of Beatles fame, takes its name from the waterfront to St Michael's Hamlet, a conservation area since 1968.
A commemorative plaque can be found on the wall of the church.
