Salthouse Dock with the 'Three Graces' in the background. The Photograph was taken during a visit by a large number of canal boats, gaining access via the river Mersey from the Leeds and Liverpool canal.

The dock took its name from the nearby site of a Salt Refinery.

There has been a dock at this location since 1753.
