Around the early part of the nineteenth century the Chinese people began to settle in the area around Pitt Street, an area much larger than the present 'China Town'. This view along Great George Street towards the Chinese Arch now represents the much smaller 'China Town' of Liverpool brought about by demolition and war damage.
