Penny Lane has no particular claim to fame other than for the Beatles song of the same name. The building to the centre right of the picture is refered to in the song as "shelter in the middle of the roundabout". At present it is a restaurant by the name of "Sgt. Peppers Bistro", but was originally a public toilet block.
