The Albert Dock, with the dome of the Port of Liverpool Building in the foreground.

The Mersey foreshore can just be seen, as the tide continues to receed.

The Albert Dock was built between 1841 and 1848, but was opened in 1846 by Prince Albert when a great Banquet was held in the main building. It is one of the earliest examples of an enclosed dock. Alternative view
