The golden dome of the Royal Insurance building. Always seen across the roof tops of Liverpool, and remembered by many. The building is currently (2005) empty following the move of Royal Insurance to its new building in Old Hall Street some years ago.
The dome is constructed of gold on copper plates and is 160 feet to the apex of the dome. The main structure is of Aberdeen Granite and Portland Stone on a steel frame.
