Starting at the Beatles Story, Albert Dock, turn and walk towards the river, down the road (Gower Street) between the dock and the car parks. At the river edge turn right and walk towards the Pier Head, along the waterfront (The Parade) between the dock and river. At the end of the original warehouse buildings (now offices and residential flats) turn to the right and look into the Albert Dock.

Retrace your steps to continue your walk towards the Pier Head crossing over the lock gates, stop here and look right towards the Pump House. Continue on past the 'Museum of Liverpool life', from where your can see the Port of Liverpool Building.

When you eventually reach the Pier Head you may be lucky enough to see one of the Mersey Ferries at the landing stage. With your back to the river look up at the Liver Building, as you walk up to the Liver Building, pass to the left side and look ahead at St Nicholas' Church.

Once more retrace your steps to pass in front of the Liver Building and up to the next street (Water Street). Walk up Water Street away from the river and across the duel carrigeway (The Strand) to past India Building on the right, continue on up the slight incline to pass the Town Hall on the left.

After the Town Hall the street becomes Dale Street, you must walk along here until you pass by the Churchhill Way flyover and the Queensway Tunnel take care in crossing the busy traffic lanes to William Brown Street. Walk up the slight incline of William Brown Street to the top, passing on the left the Museum and Library and the Art Gallery, and to the right, St John's Gardens. Turn right into Lime Street, with the Empire Theatre on the left and St Georges Hall on the right.

The walk continues along Lime Street, until you pass on the left the Britannia Adelph Hotel where the walk turns right down Ranelagh Street and right again where Church Street and Bold Street cross, these are the popular shopping streets of the city.

Ever since passing the Mersey Tunnel The Beacon in its central position, has been visible on the skyline.

Walk down Church Street to its junction with Lord Street, Whitechapel and Paradise Street, turn right into Whitechapel and walk the few yards/metres to Stanley Street. Turn left into Stanley Street and look out for the Eleanor Rigby statue on your right. Just before the statue you need to turn left again into Mathew Street. This is the Mathew Street of Beatles fame, it is here where you will find the 'Cavern Club' and opposite, the Lennon statue and the 'Wall of Fame'. The Beatles statue will need to be sought out, but it is there if you look.

At the top of Mathew Street you need to turn left into North John Street, and walk along to its junction with Lord Street. Turn right into Lord Street and walk up the slight incline to Derby Square. It is here that you can view the Queen Elizabeth II Building, home of the Crown Court.

Walking up to the Crown Court building you pass on your right the Victoria Monument. You must now walk to the left side of the Crown Court entrance where there is a passage through to Chevasse Park, an open grassed area, from here where you will be able to see at the far end of the park the Yellow Submarine, and in the background the frontage of the Albert Dock complex. You will now need to make your way across the park to pass in front of the Yellow Submarine to cross the busy duel carridgeway to be able to return to your start point.
